Gabrielle Bauman is a Canadian/American theatre director and actor. With roots in both the corn fields of Ohio and the ever-growing city of Toronto, she’s currently planted on the coast of beautiful Southeast Virginia. Gabrielle holds an M.F.A. in Acting from Regent University, a B.A. in Theatre from Cedarville University, and more recently, a graduate certificate in Church History from Regent’s School of Divinity.

Though naturally reserved, Gabrielle’s curiosity — and her love for dance, visual art, travel, and storytelling — came together on the stage. Her style is influenced by her mother’s quiet grace and her father’s off-beat humor… shaped in part by his career in death-care. She has a particular passion for developing new work, female-led stories, and the intersection of faith and art.

Recent credits include directing Wedding Belles (Regent University, Upcoming: Dec. 2025), Kate Hamill’s Sense and Sensibility (Cedarville University, 2024), and Emilie: La Marquise du Châtelet Defends Her Life (Assembly Theatre, Toronto, 2023); assistant directing the new work Contraband: The Untold Story of Emancipation (Virginia Beach Oceanfront, 2023); and producing Aboard Narcissus, her own adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s short story “The Offshore Pirate” at Zeider’s American Dream Theater (Z Fringe, 2025). She also stage-manages theatre and live concerts, including recording artist Tauren Wells (SonRise Music Festival, 2024), and has worked in administrative roles with indie theatre companies such as The Flare Productions (Toronto) and Silverstage Theatre Company (Greater Chicago).

Gabrielle has worked closely with Marion Abbott, a theatre creator and writer now based in Nova Scotia. Abbott created the Confidential Musical Theatre Project, founded The Spirit of Maud Theatre Company, and continues to champion new opportunities for women of all ages to share their voices on stage. Some of Gabrielle’s favourite moments include helping to bring eight different Confidential musicals to the Toronto Fringe (2017), portraying Anne of Green Gables author L. M. Montgomery in Spirit of Maud’s repertory (2022), and assisting in the creative development of Upward Climb, a new musical inspired by Montgomery’s life and legacy (first workshopped in 2022). Now that both Marion and Gabrielle have migrated from Toronto to two ends of the East Coast, Gabrielle continues to support Marion’s work remotely as her artistic assistant.

Gabrielle continues to pursue stories that invite inquiry, celebrate awe, and incite joy, told through practices that honor one another and reflect the end, “to enjoy Him forever.”
