Christmas Letter

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

Looking back, 2025 has been a fun and full year! From theatre projects, to travel and unexpected treats, here’s a little look at what’s been happening in my world.

From New Years Day 2025 - yes, we had our window open!

This Spring, I had three fun projects: producing the first public presentation of my play Aboard Narcissus as part of the Z-Fringe Festival, doing marketing and social media for Silverstage Theatre Company, and finishing my graduate certificate in Church History. …I may have overbooked myself.

Aboard Narcissus is short script that can stand alone, like it did at the Z, or be performed alongside two other stories as part of my full-length play Flappers and Philosophers, based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s short story collection of the same name.

I’ve always loved new works and it was fun to have my own project. I especially loved being part of Fringe. One of my favorite things about doing theatre in Toronto was the Fringe scene; so participating in a local version reminded me that great stories, and great artists, are everywhere.

Speaking of great artists — this spring, I worked remotely as the Marketing & PR Manager for Silverstage Theatre Company, based in the greater Chicago area. They launched a podcast; put on their big show of the season, a 1940s take on Much Ado About Nothing; and prepared to open their new studio space in Harvard, Il. Their artistic director, Hunter Johnson, is thriving as an actor and a producer, and I’m excited to see what’s next for him and the company.

In May, I completed my third and final semester of a graduate certificate in Church History! Grateful for this detour project and how it gave me a greater love for and humility towards the Church. My late grandfather was a professor of Church History, so that made it extra special.

Speaking of loving the Church, I took part in another session of FREEDOM with my local congregation, a twelve-week small group that ends in a two-day conference. This time I had the privilege of helping lead a group, then serving on the prayer and tech teams for the conference.

What a privilege to walk alongside people as they apply biblical truth in their lives, see them experience the freedom of being forgiven and forgiving in return.

We’re getting ready to do it all again starting in February 2026. If you’re local to Hampton Roads and interested, let me know!

As my responsibilities slowed down, I got to enjoy my 3rd Summer season in Virginia Beach since moving back. This area is a really special part of the States. We’re on the Atlantic with several beaches to choose from (each with their own vibe, especially in and out of the tourist season). Between Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake you have art galleries, concert venues, nature trails, and farmland. An hour north, you’re in Virginia’s Historic Triangle: Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown. An hour-ish south, you’re in the Outerbanks. In June alone, I got to spontaneous explore Colonial Williamsburg, visit favorite spots in Norfolk’s Ghent, and splash about at Nags Head.

In July, I got to visit Toronto and Muskoka, this time with a friend! She called it the “hometown episode.” It was so fun to show her my favourite spots, reconnect with the city, and then decompress by jumping in the lake!

Then in August, I got my own “hometown episode,” visiting my boyfriend’s family in Sacramento.

I especially loved visiting the historic area and seeing the gold rush-era Eagle Theatre, the first permanent theatre to be built in the state of California!

In the Fall semester, I had the joy of guest directing at Regent University for their December production of Wedding Belles. The show follows four garden-club ladies who pull together a last-minute wedding for a young woman visiting their small Texas town before her fiancé ships off to World War II.

I, of course, did extensive research… attending three weddings in four weeks and spending the Thanksgiving holiday in Texas.

Cast of Wedding Belles at Regent University (2025)

The all-female, all undergraduate cast did an amazing job! Closing the show was bitter-sweet, but we were all excited to jump into the Christmas season.

Other fun projects & updates:

  • I fulfilled my new years resolution to learn how to bake sourdough! There was some trial and error, but otherwise much easier than I expected!

  • Participated in another year of tech team at church and learned soooo much more about EQing and troubleshooting.

  • Since moving to the States I’ve continued working with Marion Abbott as her Artistic Assistant. It’s been an exciting season as she’s migrated from wearing many theatre-music-educator hats around the GTA to focusing full-time as an author, playwright, and composer in beautiful Nova Scotia. This year her YouTube channel, full of free accompaniment tracks reached 5 million views!

  • Launched my Substack in addition to posting on my personal website’s blog!! Thanks to everyone who has subscribed to the newsletter.

  • In October, I got to travel to Nashville for the 2025 STORY Conference! A great creative boost before starting my directing contract.

  • Started a discipleship relationship with an amazing friend and theatre artist! We’re having so much fun talking about God and our creative lives each week.

  • At my day job I got the opportunity to start solo producing a podcast, be part of the localizing team for a new Bible reading app, and won an award at our end of year meeting.

Ahh, it’s been a full and beautiful year. I truly forgot all of this was just one year. I’m so thankful for every moment and person who has been part of it.

I hope this season brings you rest, laughter, and the warmth of good company. May your 2026 be bright!
